A video presentation introduced to us the terrible plight of the people in Sudan. There is a real hope that the church might support tha AID programme, run by the church. Baroness Cox then spoke about the situation on the ground. She demonstrated how the Muslim world are mobilising, offering help funded from Suadi Arabia etc…the catch being that help is dependent on conversion. Follow Militant Islam or starve is the option, where are the Christian charities. I am glad that this conference is giving time and attention to charitable work and the third world, still no mention of homosexuality!
Next up is +Ackerman who is warning the press that they are being totally false in claiming this issue is about women’s ordination or homosexuality. This is about learning to be totally dependent on Jesus our rock. +Ackerman is calling for unity between Catholics and evangelicals. This is not for Affirming Catholics, who are neither Catholic nor affirming, nor is it a movement for Liberal Evangelicals, who are neither liberal in the true sense or evangelical! This is a robust society for bold Christians.
Next up our very own +John…. He spoke briefly, warning us not to trust ‘the system’ or the ‘Anglican church’ but to trust Christ. The question when considering the church and this society is, ‘is it authentically Christian?’ He would argue TEC is not! He is now running a qestion and answer session with +Bob Duncan.
