God bless HM the Queen!

I have long admired the present monarch and am very much a Royalist. I was therefore delighted to read the following taken from the Daily Telegraph website this morning:

‘When Pope Benedict visits this country next year, he is expected to stay at Buckingham Palace as a guest of the Queen. The warmth of her welcome will come as no surprise to the Pontiff, if senior sources at the Vatican are to be believed. According to informants quoted in The Catholic Herald, the Queen has “grown increasingly sympathetic” to the Catholic Church over the years while being “appalled”, along with the Prince of Wales, at developments in the Church of England.

The usually well-informed newspaper adds that the Queen, who is the Supreme Governor of the C of E, is “also said to have an affinity with the Holy Father, who is of her generation”.

If this is true, and I have absolutely no reason to presume it is not, (not least as the Queen continues to have male only clergy attend her) is it possible that Forward in Faith, and all those battling to secure a positive future for orthodoxy within the Church of England, might have unearthed a rather powerful ally?

Oh please. If there’s one thing that really makes me angry, it’s British people asking a non-existent diety to preserve the life of a little old lady who has lived a life of total luxury thanks to the taxpayer, and who clearly does not require god’s intervention.

  5. Michael says:

Another unelected self important self centered person trying to keep “her subjects” under her control…rather like the church and god.

I am not a subject, i have free will and did not vote for my taxes to be stolen to furnish this gluttonous vacuous woman to live in luxury while people starve around the world, and the church follows suit with the vatican hording the treasures of the world and filling its own bank accounts with the proceeds of hard working people. really Father the queen god and the clergy. all rich, all unelected and all wanting more money to live a life above the law and on the backs of mankind.

The church and the queen have no right in politics and government to interfear with the people of this country. this is supposed to be a democracy…but the rich always down trod the peasants and treat us as such

  6. Thomas Cranmer says:

Will the Papacy formally apologise to its incitement to murder – the bull “Regnans in Excelsis” of 1570 that declared Elizabeth I a heretic and absolved her subjects from loyalty to her?
