I have no idea who cuts the barber’s hair- but I do know who visits the poorly priest! Since being laid low with a slipped disc I have been fortunate to see many welcome faces. Family, friends and parishioners have all popped in to check on my wellbeing and have helped to brighten up my day. In addition many others have been praying for my recovery. This afternoon my good chum and brother priest Father Clive Jones SSC popped in, bringing with him best wishes from the local SSC chapter. He was able to pray with me and lay hands on me.
Yes- we priests need priestly ministry too! How lucky we Anglo-Catholic priests are to have such a close bond with one another. I thank God for my parish, family, friends and colleagues daily.
As to my health the great news is that the recovery is going well. It will be some time before I am fully fit but I am now able to walk gingerly and potter around the house – so long as I rest plenty too. With the aid of my liquid morphine (how good is this stuff?!!) I also managed to pass my stewardship pack to near neighbours! I now plan to return to very light duties on Thursday, in time for the school Nativity, and will try to offer low mass again. Slowly but surely I am getting there, so thank you for the prayers and good wishes. I am however not yet able to sit or drive and so will only be able to operate on a very local level at first!
Festina lente, Father.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re not well, and will keep you in my prayers.
The internet informs me that both St Gemma Galgani and St Nonnosus are patrons of those suffering from back injuries, by the way.
