Tonight I dosed myself with medication and shuffled up to church and am delighted that I did. The school nativity was fantastic and the children very clearly enjoyed themselves enormously. Other schools nationally may have abandoned donkeys for dolphins and mangers for motorbikes- but not us! It was a thoroughly traditional nativity play, a mixture of readings, carols and songs culminating with all the biblical characters gathered around the manger. A great turn out from parents, governors and church folk meant that the children felt appreciated and everyone left on a high. Well done Saint Barnabas’ school! At the end I plugged heavily our Christmas Eve 3pm Crib and Christingle service at which children are invited to dress up as a figure from the nativity. Led by our Sunday School it will also take the form of a traditional nativity service.

Thank you for the beautiful photographs. Lovely to see you again…and what a welcome you received from the children! Must have made the very painful shuffling less painful.
Brilliant! and very pleased to hear you are on the mend.
Happy memories; not least of our GLC housing estate parish in the ’60s where a lovely East Ender teacher threatened a child with “If you don’t be’ave there ain’t goin’ to be no bl**ding donkey!” But don’t overdo it, dear Farv.. take it gently and keep the Scotch embrocation going. +E
Once again well done to all the children!
